High in the mountain
Well, not exactly a mile high, nor a single kilometer too - just 960m, but I’m not talking here about heights either… Sure, it was high. But getting high before using the chair lift is a must-do at least once in life! Believe me! Especially if you do like me - not putting on a long-sleeve before getting into a pleasant mix of wind and rain. I felt like going through a Purgatory - it’s really amazing and trippy. And totally refreshing.
Earlier the same day me and my mate had a quick hitchhike to reach Sliven, so we could get to Karandila, where the hitchhikers gathering was set to be. It was hot the whole day before, but once we reached our destination it got rainy and windy, but nothing really shocking. A walk in the woods is always inspiring…
I won’t give you any particular details about the party - it was loud and lifting up. And besides I don’t like censorship… The place was perfect - a little meadow with traditional Karakachan huts.
I don’t have much experience with mountains and I’m just about to see more and more of them. But to me, it’s always like the sea is over the hill. Many of you are probably familiar with the great hights and the echo breaking through the silence, high above the people with their troubleheads.
Unfortunately I don’t know anything about mushrooms.
In the morning we went down through a heavy fog. Of course using the chair lift once again. It wasn’t like the first time, but still awesome.
After having a hard to forget shkembe chorba we hitchhiked home. Don’t know why, but this time it didn’t go smooth, just like the previous time I went to a hitchhikers gathering. We had to walk several kilometers to reach the main road. By the time we were waiting for someone to give us a lift we met some new friends:
These goats escaped their yard right in front of our eyes, went across the street and ate everything on the way, including trash and paper. Anyway, it was a good trip to one more place where I haven’t been by now.
If you want to taste a similar mood give a try to Jex Thoth (a.k.a Totem) since you’re passing by. It’s a great acid doom or as they refer ot their music, alchemy doom. It’s not melodramatic at all, neither is this woman singing operatic - more likely reminds me of late ’60s bands, but it still may be a good advice for Candlemass fans. Also if you like slow space rock guitar solos over a morbid mix of hammond organ and really tense bass work - this could be your next psychedelic trip.
